Getting a new entertainment space in Reading

I needed a fitted bar after hosting a gathering where we ran out space. I chose to look near the Oracle Shopping Centre.

I found the website while scrolling and emailed photos. Central Bedroom and Kitchens replied with a price that seemed right for the work.

The journey of organising this project was actually quite involved. I dedicated several hours reflecting on the configuration of the space before even picking up the phone. My living area has constantly felt a bit incomplete, and having a dedicated area for beverages seemed like the perfect solution to that issue. I remember sitting in my kitchen looking at a messy countertop covered with glassware and feeling that something had to shift. The initial conversation with the team was extremely simple, which provided me assurance. We talked various styles, from modern minimalist designs to something traditional and wooden finishes. I was quite surprised by how much detail they wanted about the measurements and the current decor of my home. It seemed like they genuinely wanted the finished result to blend seamlessly with the balance of the building. I provided multiple angles in the images I sent, making sure every nook was clear. They clarified that the bespoke nature of the furniture meant that precision was entirely critical to prevent any issues during the fitting. We moved forth and forth on possible resources, looking at samples of laminate and different types of wood patterns. It is amazing how much consideration goes into picking the correct handles, like pulls and fittings, which can completely change the feel of the whole build. I wanted a place where I might easily mix drinks for friends without having to repeatedly dash back to the kitchen for ice or tools. The ease of having everything in one place was the main driver for this purchase. We settled the design after a short meeting where all my concerns regarding wiring and lighting sockets were answered. I liked that they didn't hurry the design stage, spending the time to ensure that the depth of the racks was sufficient for my tallest bottles. It felt like a collaborative process rather than a standard sale, which is rare to locate these days.

The fitting date came faster than anticipated, and the fitter was on time and prepared. He began by placing down protective covers to make sure my flooring stayed tidy. Watching the parts being unloaded was fascinating, as the standard of the wood was instantly evident. He carefully checked the alignment of the floor before attaching the main structure of the unit. I watched as the skeleton slowly took form, changing a plain corner into a practical piece. The degree of craftsmanship required in scribing the boards to the wonky surfaces of my period house was notable. He mentioned how each section fitted together to create total stability. We wasted a bit of duration choosing on the final height for the integrated fridge, ensuring it was accessible to open but tucked away from main sight. The fitting of the counter was the most rewarding part of the whole day. Seeing the polished surface finally resting on the base helped the project feel to life. He next fitted the glass backsplash, which immediately made the space to look twice the size. The LEDs were wired afterward, and testing them for the first time was a highlight. The soft glow below the racks showcased the glassware beautifully. I was able to see exactly how useful this would be for evening events. The fitter was very careful, taking the effort to clean down each surface and remove any dust made during the drilling. He also showed me how to adjust the shelves if I ever needed to store bigger items. The attention to precision was truly exceptional, straight down to the silicone beads along the joins. It was obvious that he took great satisfaction in his craft, which is always good to see. We did a last walkthrough of the finished installation to make everything was to standard. I observed that a single knob was a bit loose, and he tightened it straight away with a quick turn of a screwdriver. This diligence was just what I was hoping for when I arranged the job.

The finished bar appears absolutely amazing and has turned into the main feature of my home. It provides a classy vibe that had been formerly missing from my living space. The capacity is huge, allowing me to organise all my liquors, sodas, and fancy glasses in one cohesive unit. No longer do I have to search through cramped kitchen shelves to locate a bottle opener or a specific kind of glass. Everything has its proper place, which makes entertaining so much easier and relaxing. I love the way the finishes catch the sunlight in the afternoons, creating a warm atmosphere. My guests have already complimented the design several occasions, with some actually inquiring for the contact of the company who made it. It really seems like a custom addition made specifically for my needs. The height of the countertop is perfect for standing around with a glass, and the built-in LED units provide just the right level of illumination without being too bright. Even when not in operation, it works as a beautiful piece of cabinetry that lifts the entire aesthetic of the property. I used some effort placing my collection on the shelves to create a visual arrangement. The glass back truly assist in showcasing the labels and giving dimension to the tight alcove. It has inspired me to try creating different drinks that I before felt were too fussy to bother in a standard kitchen. Having the tap close would have been good, but the space limits resulted in we decided without it to save cabinet room. This was a deliberate choice we took during the planning phase, and I certainly not rue it. The extra cupboard room for straws and accessories is much more valuable to me in the long term.

There were a few of minor limitations that are worth mentioning for a honest perspective. The wait period for the custom panels was a little longer than I originally hoped. It lasted about six days from the first deposit to the final fitting appointment. While this is expected for tailored furniture, it required a some of waiting on my part. I had wanted to have it ready for a certain event, but we missed that deadline by a few days. However, the updates from the office about the progress was consistent, so I was not left in the unknowing. I rather hold a little longer for a product that is built to endure than receive a hasty work that breaks after a couple years. The start price estimate was also slightly less than the final bill, mostly because I decided to upgrade the hardware and add extra inside lighting midway through the build. These changes were entirely my choice, and the team was extremely transparent about the extra fees required. Another small issue was the amount of packaging remaining after the fitting. Although the worker tidied up the work site well, there was a significant amount of cardboard to get rid of in my recycling. It wasn't a big deal, but something to consider if you possess little bin room. Despite these small points, the total journey was vastly good. The quality of the fit is far superior to anything I could have purchased from a shop. It seems sturdy and well-constructed, and I am sure it will withstand decades of use. I believe the worth it has given to my property far outweighs the upfront outlay. It has changed the way I use my living area, making it far more social. I no anymore sense cramped when people visit.

Reflecting back on the entire experience, I am really happy I opted forward with it. The initial spark came from a trip to a friend's house in London, where they had a similar bar. I realised then how much it improved the movement of the evening. When I returned to Reading, I began researching local firms and found that working with a specialist provider was the only way to achieve the precise style I desired. The ability to pick every detail, from the shade of the stain to the placement of the power sockets, made the final product was exactly as I envisioned. I also had a small hidden drawer built for storing expensive items like fancy stirrers. This level of personalisation is what makes the experience unique. It didn't feel like a generic piece being forced into a room where it didn't belong. Instead, it looks like it has always been a segment of the architecture. If you are thinking about a similar domestic improvement, my tip would be to remain calm and invest the time on the design stage. It is far easier to alter click here a drawing than it is to modify a cabinet once it is manufactured. The knowledge provided during the beginning was invaluable in preventing me from making simple mistakes, such as putting the fridge too close to a radiator. These small details of wisdom are what you pay for when you hire experienced experts. I am currently looking at different areas of my home to see where else I might install built-in solutions. The outcome of this bar project has provided me the drive to start a bigger task in the kitchen next season. It is a wonderful addition to my daily routine, and I view forward to numerous seasons of using it with relatives and friends. Finding the proper balance between style and function was the goal, and I think we achieved it perfectly. The journey from a messy alcove to a sleek social point was truly worth the effort and money spent. I today have a space that I am truly happy to show off to visitors. Reading has some nice places to go for a drink, but honestly, I now prefer staying at home and using my own private setup. It offers the identical atmosphere without the noise or the travel. That alone was deserving the whole project. I am very happy with how the ambience functions in the evening, creating a relaxing space to unwind after a busy shift at work. It is the little treats like this that render home life so rewarding and enjoyable. I really appreciate the workmanship that went into the finished result. The way the doors close with a silent click tells volumes about the build level. No detail was overlooked, and the final look is precisely what I needed it would be when I originally started this adventure. It is a testament to the talent of the fitters and the quality of the components used. I am a truly satisfied customer.
